The Drogheda Tidy Towns Art & Sculpture Project brought together community members, artists, volunteers, and civic partners to enrich public spaces with original artwork and sculptures inspired by local heritage, identity, and natural beauty.
The project set out to reframe everyday places as cultural landmarks — turning ideas into creative expressions that reflect the spirit of Drogheda.
Drogheda is a town rich in history, culture, and visual stories. The Art & Sculpture Project was designed to cultivate that heritage through meaningful community-driven artwork and support local artists in bringing installations to life.
With a focus on belonging, creativity, and community pride, the initiative aimed to enhance public spaces in ways that connect people, place, and imagination.
Key intentions included:
Local residents and groups were invited to share their ideas on themes important to Drogheda — including nature, heritage, myth, and shared experience. These conversations informed the artistic direction and helped ground the project in community values.
Working closely with selected artists, Drogheda Tidy Towns ensured that the resulting pieces were both locally meaningful and technically strong. Each artist explored unique visual languages while drawing inspiration from the town’s cultural roots and environment.
Careful consideration went into choosing locations where artworks would have strong visual impact and open public access. Sculptures and installations were sited where they would naturally become part of people’s daily experience — in parks, walkways and public junctions.
Whether you can volunteer your time, support our projects, or simply spread the word, every effort helps us keep Drogheda clean, green, and thriving.
