Drogheda Tidy Towns 5-Year Plan (2022–2026)

Guiding long-term environmental action, community engagement and project delivery in Drogheda.

Celebrating and protecting Drogheda’s natural lifeline.

After months of collaboration and planning, Drogheda Tidy Towns launched its Five-Year Plan to support the group’s work across multiple areas of community and environmental development.

This strategy document served as a roadmap for current and future projects, helping the organisation prioritise efforts, strengthen partnerships, and align its work with the National Tidy Towns competition criteria.

Purpose and Vision

The 5-Year Plan was developed as a living, community-driven guide to:

  • identify projects and initiatives that support sustainable development;
  • focus activity under key adjudication categories of the national competition;
  • help Drogheda achieve regional success and greater impact;
  • encourage community participation in shaping local environment, public spaces and biodiversity efforts.

Compiled by the Drogheda Tidy Towns Committee in partnership with specialist advisers, the plan drew on community consultation, stakeholder input and strategic guidance to reflect local priorities and capabilities.

Structure of the Plan

The plan was organised into specific focus areas, each addressing a key element of town stewardship:

This structure helped guide project prioritisation, align work with competition categories and ensure a balanced approach across environmental, social and place-making objectives.

Implementation Highlights

The 5-Year Plan did more than set goals — it helped the Tidy Towns committee and volunteers:

Regular monitoring templates were included to ensure progress could be tracked and updated — keeping the plan relevant and flexible as community needs evolved.

Community Involvement & Consultation

Community voices were integral to developing the plan. Through meetings, stakeholder interviews and online consultation rounds, local residents, volunteers and organisations shared insights that shaped priorities and clarified local needs.
